“This is a toughest game for us this season,” this is how Kaizer Chiefs coach, Muhsin Ertugral responded to kaizerchiefs.com when he was asked about the upcoming Soweto derby against Moroka Swallows at Olympia Park. Kick off for the Absa Premiership clash is at 20h15 on Saturday night.

“In my opinion we are playing with one of the best teams in the league. I have said it before that Swallows is capable for challenging for honours and it is no fluke that they beat Ajax Cape Town in their own back yard two weeks ago. They have good players and a very good coach,” said Ertugral.

The upcoming encounter will be the 49th meeting between the two Soweto giants. Chiefs have dominated this fixture in the past but with Swallows winning the last time the two teams met, the fans should brace themselves for a cracker of a game.

“The past results do not count for anything in the derby. We are going all out to get three points for us to keep our hopes to win the league this season alive. The boys are all raring to go,” he said.

Chiefs will go to this game minus the services of Itumeleng Khune, Ibe Zito Ogbonna, Thabang Rooi and Dominic Isaacs.

“Ideally as a coach you want to have all your players ready to play at this stage of the season. We have a big squad to replace these players. Emille Baron did well last week for us in the absence of Itumeleng Khune, so are the other players who came in,” he said adding that he is hoping that the team will hang on to their unbeaten run this year.

The Amakhosi are currently lying on fourth position with 30 points while Swallows are on 26 points with a game on hand.
