Ertugral praises Rooi

Kaizer Chiefs mentor, Muhsin Ertugral paid a glowing tribute to Vaal born defender, Thabang Rooi who for the second consecutive game did not put his foot wrong in the heart of defence. Rooi had not featured in any games this season ahead of the game against Bidvest Wits last weekend. He was again at his best last night as Chiefs outclassed Golden Arrows.

He was also a threat for Golden Arrows every time he went up for set pieces. His calmness in defence and his commitment in his play have received rave reviews from the Amakhosi faithful.

“He was to me a Man of the Match in this game,” responded the Turk during the media conference when he was asked about Rooi’s performance.

“It took a little bit of time to get him (Thabang Rooi) playing this way. We were not happy with the way he was doing at training...but then of course training is different from match situation. He was outstanding for us on Saturday against Bidvest Wits but tonight I think he was the best player in the field. I am very happy for him,” he said.

Ertugral also took time to praise Golden Arrows who had not lost a game before the Wednesday night.

“I think people should give credit to Golden Arrows. They are on top of the league and again they did well tonight. I think it was our day though and we could have added the second goal when Shabba’s (Siphiwe Tshabalala) strike went over the bar in the dying minutes.

The only worry for Muhsin though was the injury to Arthur Zwane. The veteran winger left the field before halftime due to injury.

“I think he twisted his knee a little bit but it does not look too serious. He will be assessed on Thursday,” he said adding that the team will be back at training on Thursday in preparation for the next encounter against Engen Santos in Cape Town.
