Ertugral looking to hold on to his Cup

Muhsin Ertugral managed to go one better in the 2007 – 2008 Telkom Knock out Cup then he did last season, when he was coach of Ajax Cape Town as they lost in the final to Platinum Stars. This season he did take the step up leading Chiefs to Telkom glory late last year, he did manage to win the ABSA Cup as coach of Ajax last season and leading the Urban Warriors to that cup triumph earned him the coach of the tournament award during the 2006 – 2007 ABSA Cup. In some twist of fate Ertugral will start the defence of his coach of the tournament award by leading Chiefs out against his former team Ajax, in the round of the 32 in the Nedbank Cup as he hopes to lead Chiefs to the podium in the 2007 – 2008 Nedbank cup just as he did a season ago with Ajax.

Defending champion

Ertugral is relishing the prospect of taking on the on form Cape Town team and is also looking forward to adding another winner’s medal to his collection along with the one he picked up at last seasons ABSA Cup. The Chiefs coach said to kaizerchiefs.com “Ajax have their title to defend and we will have our ideas and plans for the match, from history every time I am in a cup competition with a team in South Africa. Whenever we win our opening match we usually go all the way to the final, given what we achieved in the Telkom Knock Out Cup I do not think it is impossible for us to reach our second cup final this season”.

Tough prospect

Although he has spoken up his teams chances of overcoming Ajax Ertugral also had some words of caution to share saying, “it will be a tough test for us and we know that and need to be prepared for that challenge”. He went onto further add “ along time ago I had put behind me what I achieved with Ajax, it is now time for me to do the same with Chiefs it is going to be a testing couple of months but we willing to work hard to ensure that we end the season with at least one more trophy”.
