Ertugral feeling better vibe this time around

Muhsin Ertugral had to hold sway with the media for almost twenty minutes on Wednesday afternoon at the Premier Soccer League offices in Johannesburg, as he waited for the arrival of his Mamelodi Sundowns counterpart Gordon Ingesund who had been delayed by traffic problems on his way to the media briefing.

When Ingesund did arrive and after apologizing to the media, he and the Chiefs coach shared a warm hand shake and a few words before the questioning continued. Both sets of coaches do seem to have a good understanding with each other and there are personal gains that each coach would like to get out of the game.

In the 2006 Telkom Knock Out Cup Semi Finals Muhsin Ertugral then coach of Ajax Cape Town saw his team defeat Ingesund’s Sundowns by a solitary goal scored by Thembinkosi Fanteni.

It was a feat they repeated a few months later in May this year during the ABSA Cup Final as Ertugral again plotted Sundowns downfall and stopped Sundowns from completing a league and Cup double, while Ertugral may have defeated Sundowns in the semifinals his team lost to Silver Stars in the 2006 final. Ertugral going into what is sixth domestic cup final on Saturday believes that Chiefs can go one better than he fared with Ajax a year ago, having already won four domestic cup competitions during his various tenures as a coach in the PSL Ertugral has the belief that his team can add to the titles he has already collected.

Good feeling

Ertugral while commenting on ending up on the losing end during last years Telkom Knock Out Cup Final said, “We might have won the ABSA Cup after losing the Telkom Knock Out with Ajax, but I still get questioned on the Cup that we did not win and from a personal point of view yes I would like to win this year to make up for what happened last season”.

According to Ertugral things did not seem right in the build up to Ajax’s showdown with Stars and it showed in the result, this time around he does have that winning feeling inside of him.

“Leading up to the 2006 tournament final I just thought this was not going to be our day, from the beginning our plan did not work they bottled us up and scored three goals in twenty minutes. I learnt a lot of lessons from last years final and lets say it won’t happen again this year, that is for sure”.

Pulsating game

While the Chiefs coach was looking forward to winning his fifth trophy on the domestic front, which will mean that he has won every cup in the country, his opposite number Gordon Ingesund was looking forward to the fact that he has his full team for the game.

A some what serious looking Ingesund added: “Five of my guys who had been out with injuries and suspensions for the game such as Vuyo Mere, Shere Lekgothoane and Godfrey Sapula are back for the Cup Final which is good news for us”.

Ingesund is expecting the game to be as exciting as always, as matches between the two teams always turn about to be, Ingesund said of his expectations of Saturday’s game “When we met a week ago in a league match the game was a competitive and very tight one. I see it being much the same in that way, it is though a cup final and any thing can happen really, with both teams desperate for the win I will say that the game will an exciting one which the fans will really enjoy”.
