Amakhosi team manager Bobby Motaung is confident of a Chiefs victory over arch rivals and the team where his father Kaizer Motaung began his professional career Orlando Pirates.

Bobby since taking the reigns of team manager during the 2001 season has been a lucky charm of sorts as Chiefs have under his tenure as team manager have a better winning percentage over the Buccaneers. With Chiefs winning three, losing two and drawing four of the nine league games contested since his inaugural 2001-2002 season.

Speaking after a press conference at the FNB Stadium on Thursday morning Motaung said “Victory on Saturday is a must, when we emerge victorious we will be dedicating it as an early Christmas present to our supporters”.

Commenting further to the fact that Pirates will have representatives from various religious denominations saying prayers before the game on Saturday.

Motaung commented with aplomb “Pirates will take twelve minutes to pray with religious figures from various institutions, what they don’t know is that with the multitude of supporters we have our supporters have been praying at the mosques, churches, synagogues, temples and other places of worship for a victory for the entire week. Now that should tell you who will have divine inspiration on Saturday, Chiefs fans come from all walks of life and every one has already done their bit so a thousand prayers cannot compare to twelve minutes”.

At the previous Soweto derby in October Bobby asked the supporters to show gold passion when coming to the stadium he has echoed similar sentiments “ in October the supporters won the game for us and I want to ask them all to come once again dressed in Gold and Black, you can once again help us win it be victorious”.

The big game will kick off at 15h45pm on Saturday at the FNB Stadium in Johannesburg.
