Tickets were sold out hours after they came out on sale over this past weekend.

The match was completely sold out within 48 hours of coming on sale, and a spokesperson for ticketing agent Computicket said that they were not surprised by the high demand for tickets as Chiefs and Pirates command huge support.

Reacting to the news Kaizer Chiefs head of security and logistics Thami Mayaluza said “it is nice to see supporters purchasing tickets in advance, on the other hand the decision to play the match in Durban is still not a wise one”.

Last week the PSL decided that the game will now be played at ABSA Stadium in Durban as the league rules state that the semi finals and finals of cup competitions should be played at neutral venues.

The decision to move the game will deprive more than 40 000 supporters to watch the game live. Many of Amakhosi’s regular supporters have been left out in the cold as tickets were in sparse supply in Gauteng.

Thami Mayaluza has also urged supporters who do not have tickets not to come to the stadium for next week’s final and should instead resign themselves to watching the game on television.

Since it was announced that the game would be going to Durban, many concerns around security have been raised, as the ABSA Stadium in Durban is much smaller than the FNB Stadium, PSL CEO Trevor Phillips did say at press conference last week that he was putting his head on the block by taking the game to Durban.
