Kaizer Chiefs have made a short trip to Atteridgeville, west of Pretoria, to take on Mamelodi Sundowns in a Betway Premiership clash this afternoon at the Lucas Masterpieces Moripe stadium. Tickets for this big match were sold out within four hours of going on sale.

Just as with their previous match against SuperSport United, Kaizer Chiefs will be meeting Mamelodi Sundowns for the third time this season. The first meeting was Betway Premiership fixture, which was followed by a Carling Black Label Knockout quarterfinal match at FNB Stadium.

Chiefs will want to avenge the 2-1 loss suffered in the first round of the league which they lost under controversial circumstances at FNB Stadium on 28 September.

When it comes to the log, Chiefs are seventh, with 25 points after 18 matches. Sundowns are top with 51 points in 19 matches.

Coach Nasreddine Nabi is a happy man as Mozambican born defender Edmilson Dove makes his return after suffering an injury in Turkiye during the preseason camp.

Chiefs will, howerer, not have Gaston Sirino available due to suspension. He will be joined in the stands by a number of players who are out with injury, including Happy Mashiane, Wandile Duba, Sibongiseni Mthethwa and Edson Castillo.

There are two changes to the line-up when compared to the previous game against Matsatsantsa. Sirino is replaced by Mduduzi Shabalala in the middle of the park, while Dove comes on for the injured Mashiane.

Chiefs will again adopt a 4-1-4-1 formation for this afternoon’s match.

Minding the goalposts is Bruce Bvuma.

At the back, coach Nabi has gone for Dove on the left, Rushwin Dortley and Inacio Miguel as central defenders, and Reeve Frosler on the right.

Yusuf Maart is the holding midfielder.

Attacking midfielders are Shabalala and Thabo Cele. On the wings Chiefs will have Pule Mmodi on the left and Glody Lilepo on the right.

Tashreeq Morris will go out at the team’s lone striker.

Maart is the captain.

This match's officials are referee, Olani Kwinda, assited by Zakhele Siwela and Romario Phiri. The fourth official is Abraham Mashala.

Amakhosi’s 19th league match of the season against Masandawana will kick off at 15:30 at the Lucas ‘Masterpieces’ Moripe Stadium in the Atteridgeville, west of Pretoria.
