Kaizer Chiefs defender Fabian McCarthy has been dealt a double blow, which will keep him out of this coming weekend’s Coca-Cola Cup quarterfinal game against Jomo Cosmos to be played on Sunday in Rustenburg.

McCarthy picked up a hamstring injury in the 2-0 victory over Pirates on Saturday, coupled with that he also collected his third yellow card of the season, which effectively ruled him out of Sunday’s game.

Kaizer Chiefs team doctor Phil Maepa, commenting on Fabian’s injury said; "it looks like Fabian has a hamstring problem, he will have to take it easy this week while our physiotherapist David Milner treats him. He should start training in a week and we will have him available for selection when we play Silver Stars in the middle of November."

Fabian is the only serious casualty from the past weekend’s Soweto derby, Patrick Mabedi has recovered from a minor ankle difficulty. Scara Ngobese is also available for selection for Sunday’s game against Cosmos after missing the Soweto derby through suspension.
