Mrs Mable Khumalo - the mother of former Kaizer Chiefs and Bafana Bafana midfield maestro Doctor Khumalo - has expressed her gratitude to Kaizer Chiefs, Orlando Pirates and all those who were involved in making Doctor's Benefit match such a memorable event.

I would like to give my sincere gratitude to all the Amakhosi family members who took part in making the Doctors Benefit Game such a successful event over the past weekend.

It really opened my eyes wide enough to see how my child, Doctor is loved out there by the nation. That made me realise that Doctor is not my son only but the “son of South Africa’s Nation”.

It is in this spirit that we remain proud of that we come to understand the importance of honouring the people we love especially when they are still alive. I remain touched and this will always be a memorial to me being his mother and the rest of Khumalo family.

I want to give big thanks to Kaizer Chiefs chairman Kaizer Motaung, Stella Helwick from Acer Africa, Bobby Motaung the Kaizer Chiefs team manager, Neil from Stella Africa, Putco Mafani, the rest of management team, Chomane Chomane, the media, all the sponsors who participated, the players (Pirates and Chiefs) who played at this game and all masses who attended the game from all over the country just to come and honour my son.

Thank you so much for all the support you showed to Doctor’s family during the preparations of this event. May this sort of events be done not only to Doctor but also to other players who have served their teams and their country well.
