Amakhosi goalkeeper coach Rainer Dinkelacker on Wednesday signed an extension to his current contract with the club, which will see the 58-year-old German remain in his current position at least until the end of the 2007 – 2008 season.

Dinkelacker who first began working with the goalkeepers at Kaizer Chiefs during the 1999 – 2000 on a part time basis assumed a full time role with the club at the start of the current season, his new contract which makes room for extensions could well see him stay for close to a decade with The Amakhosi.

A gleaming Dinkelacker said on Wednesday after completing the necessary paper work “If you are happy working in a certain environment then you come to work ever day motivated and looking forward towards giving your best at your job. I can say that I enjoy working within the Kaizer Chiefs environment and the team made me an excellent offer and once the final offer was tabled I was never going to turn it down”.

While his contract negotiations went smoothly, Dinkelacker also believes that the fact that Chiefs production line of goalkeepers has a number of gems which need polishing, and the challenge of polishing these gems as well as working with the current crop of goalkeepers helped to convince him that he needed to stay on at Chiefs, as he explained further “When I first started out at Chiefs I worked a lot with Brian Balyoi and then it was Rowen Fernandez. Over time I have worked with a number of other guys - at the moment I feel that Ryan Wuest and Itumeleng Khune although they might be in the wings at the moment, they have the potential to go a long way."

"I would like to be there and help them reach their full potential, and achieve their goals or rather help them prevent others scoring goals”.

Having already worked with a number of first team coaches, beginning with Muhsin Ertugral in 1999 and upon Ertugral’s departure from Chiefs, Rainer worked under the Ace Khuse / Doctor Khumalo tenure. He was part of the technical team set up during Chiefs two successful championship winning seasons in 2003-04 and 2004-05 under Ted Dumitru, as well as working a season and a half with Ernst Middendorp and now for the past two months working with Kosta Papic.

Dinkelacker believes that he understands the culture of the club well enough to know that the goalkeepers in the team are often under the most pressure. It is the challenge of coming to training ever day and helping the goalkeepers deal with the pressure that drives him on.
