This week kaizerchiefs.com took time to speak to one of the shining lights in the Kaizer Chiefs development, Siyanda Xulu. Siyanda follows in the footsteps of the best talent that Kaizer Chiefs has spotted over the years in that province. Names that come to mind is Ten Ten Ndzimande, Michael Bizzah Dhlamini, the late Samora Khulu, Fani Madida, the list goes on.

“My coach at Royal Coastal, Lindani Shezi recommended me to Kaizer Chiefs development last year. I came here for trials,” recalled the youngster on how his move to Kaizer Chiefs Development was orchestrated.

Siyanda Xulu currently the captain of Kaizer Chiefs U20 told kaizerchiefs.com that it took him one week to convince U20 coach, Donald “Ace” Khuse.

“I was confident coming to trials and did not try to do anything special. At the end it was a great feeling to sign for the Kaizer Chiefs development side because it has always been my dream to don the black and gold jersey,” he said.

“They were also very happy at home when I finally achieved my dream although they did not expect it to happen so soon. We have had a successful season as U20 and we are currently on top of the league table. It has been an honour leading the guys this season. We have wonderful players who I believe have a bright future ahead,” he continued.

The hard tackling centre back was part of Coca Cola Football Stars team that toured Germany early this year, “It was a huge experience being part of Coca Cola Football Stars. To make the final 18 was a wonderful feeling. I was given an honour to captain the team in Germany,” he said adding that it was for the first time for him to go overseas.

Siyanda Xulu’s talent has not gone unnoticed as he has been included in the U20 Cosafa Cup squad,” I have already played for the U17 and I am extremely happy to be part of the Cosafa squad. I am hoping to grab the opportunity with both hands.

“My biggest dream for is to play for the Kaizer Chiefs’ first team,” he added with supreme confidence.
