Kaizer Chiefs development coach, Ryder Mofokeng has told kaizerchiefs.com that they are well on track ahead of the start of SAFA Soweto league on the 7th March 2009.

The Developments sides, U20 and U17 have engaged themselves with a series of friendly matches since they reported back to Shaft 17 (Development Centre) on the 6th January.

“Despite the challenges we have in our league, we were very satisfied with the performance of all our teams in the league last year. U17 in particular were very impressive and a bulk of their players have been promoted.

However, we are not focusing much on results rather developing players for the first team. It is always encouraging to win tournaments at the development level and we used that to measure the readiness of our players,” said Ryder.

“Skipper” also revealed to kaizerchiefs.com that the Club will hold trials at the Development Centre on the 5th April 2009 for players aged 14, 15, 16 and 17.

“We are in a mission to unearth the next generation of Itumeleng Khune, Thela Ngobeni, Shakes Sondlane and Tlou Molekwanes,” he concluded with a smile.
