Kaizer Chiefs Football Club would like to send heart-felt condolences to the family of football journalist Clinton Asary, who passed away on Sunday, May 9.



Clinton Asary was an acclaimed football writer for worked for The Star, PSL website before he joined the Kickoff magazine.



Asary, who is said to have been diabetic, collapsed on Sunday and passed away later in the day. He will be laid to rest in Newclare, Johannesburg on 14h00 on today (Monday, May 10).



“This is definitely sad loss to South African football,” said Chiefs’ PRO Putco Mafani. “He was an excellence journalist whose views were always constructive and objective and most importantly contributed to the development our football.



“We were one of the few people who seconded his appointment as the PSL website editor because we believed in his ability and his objectiveness.



“His untimely death is a huge blow not only to our football but the journalism world especially there is shortage of good and objective journalists. We can hope that his death paves a way in the quest to improve the standard of reporting in the country.



“So on behalf of everyone at Chiefs, I would to send heart-felt condolences to the Asary family and friends and let them know that theirs was also our loss.”
