Condolences to Khumalo Family

Executive Chairman, Kaizer Motaung, has joined hundreds of South Africans in paying tribute to the late Orlando Pirates striker, Mthofi Khumalo, following the announcement by Natal provincial government that he has died this week.

Both his teammates and opponents held Khumalo in high esteem because of his predatory instincts in front of goals.

“Mthofi had no problems finding the back of the net on a regular basis. He came from KwaZulu-Natal, which has produced some of the best strikers to grace our football. I can count the likes of Michael “Bizzah” Dlamini, Shaka Ngcobo, Samara Khulu and many others. I remember vividly how he single-handedly killed us in the Champs of Champs Final in 1981. We went to the game leading by 1 goal to 0 and we added the second one just after interval, for him to stage a remarkable comeback, scoring all three goals to become only the second player to score a hat-trick in a Chiefs/Pirates Soweto derby since our former striker Muguyo did the same back in 1975.”

On behalf of the Kaizer Chiefs Family I express our heartfelt condolences to his family and friends,” said Captain Chincha.
