After having a chat with my colleagues at the Media and Branding Departments, I felt that there was a need to ‘keep in touch’ regularly with the multitudes of our fans. The column will seek to update you on the developments in the team and from time to time I will discuss international matters.

I am a big fan of football and I watch trends on how teams play around the world. It has been interesting watching the Champions League and other leagues in Europe. My primary focus though will be in the Absa Premiership.

Telkom Knockout Last 16 Review

We were confident that we would have a positive result in Durban having done well against Moroka Swallows midweek. We only had one change from the team that played midweek - and it was a forced one - with Valery Nahayo replacing suspended Dominic Isaacs.

I would like to take this opportunity and congratulate my players for a job well done. In all fairness to AmaZulu we dominated the game and once again created lots of opportunities. We were once again solid at the back, solid in the middle - but I would love to see us taking our chances more up front.

I would love to see the players scoring more goals like ‘Yeye’ (Reneilwe Letsholonyane) did converting a cross from (Knowledge) Musona. Sometimes the guys need a second touch inside the box to score and this is something that we are addressing at training as I want them to score with a first touch.

I also spoke to the players about the way we played in the second half. We attacked in the first half scoring two goals and we sat back in the second stanza.

SuperSport United Review

This weekend we are traveling to Pretoria to face SuperSport United in a league game. We beat them the last time in the Nedbank Cup in May.

That will not count anything though when we meet this weekend. The preparations for the game have gone very well. The players are hungry and I am impressed with the attitude they have shown at training. I am confident that we will come back to Johannesburg with a positive result.

Reneilwe Letsholonyane picked up his third caution against AmaZulu and will miss the game. This is a big blow for us because ‘Yeye’ is one of our key players as a Bafana Bafana player. He has been an inspiration for us this season and he covered every corner of Moses Mabhida last weekend. He also capped his performance with a superb goal and will be surely missed against the current champions.

Also missing the game is Thomas Sweswe who lost his father on Wednesday morning. We have given him permission to be with his family.

Having said that, we have other players in the squad that can do the business. I have a belief in all the players in the squad, and whoever is given a nod on Sunday - I have no doubt that he will do the job. I have also been impressed by another Bafana Bafana player, Itumeleng Khune who has been doing very well for us.

Siphiwe Tshabalala, Itumeleng Khune, Reneilwe Letsholonyane should understand that the team needs them more when the chips are down. It is very important for them to inspire the team and the trio has done this well this season. Having said that, I think our good start in the league can be credited to everyone in the squad.
