SuperSport United victory

I would like to take this opportunity once more to congratulate my players for a job well done on Sunday against SuperSport United where we brought all the maximum points back to Naturena. I am not only congratulating the players who did the job on the field but even the ones who did not play for the support they gave to their teammates.

I was very happy with the way the team played and the way they carried the Technical Team’s instructions to the field. We knew that it was not going to be easy as SuperSport United has shown over the seasons that they are a force to be reckoned with. We however focused on our strengths as Kaizer Chiefs and I was happy that at the end of the day we won the game.

I will always defend my players and I did not defend Kaizer Motaung JR because of his name but because he is one of my players. In my office I will always discuss mistakes with my players to make sure that they do not repeat them next time.

The game against SuperSport United is now history and we have a tough game against Free State Stars this coming weekend.

Telkom Knockout Quarter Final

Steve Kompela (Free State Stars coach) is a good friend of mine. He is a very nice guy, a football person and I like the way his teams play. I have always enjoyed playing against his teams. I have no doubt that the game on Saturday is going to be a very good game as both teams always try and play an exciting brand of football.

Free State Stars, like any other team that plays against Kaizer Chiefs, always play above themselves. Stars will be even a different team on Saturday and they cannot be taken for granted. In recent weeks they have done well collecting valuable points in the league. It is not my philosophy though to talk about other teams but to focus on my team and on what we want to achieve.

The game against Free State Stars provides us with an opportunity to defend the Telkom Knockout we won last season. We are playing at home and there will be no room for mistakes. We were back at training on Tuesday in preparation for this encounter. I am confident that we will come back with a positive result and make our supporters happy.

Champions League

I am looking forward to watching the Real Madrid vs. AC Milan on Wednesday night. Milan lost in the league last weekend against my favourite team, Juventus. They will find it hard to beat Real Madrid who seem to have transformed following the arrival of Jose Mourinho

I like watching Jose’s teams, the approach and learn. I am sure it is going to be a good game.

See you all at Rand Stadium on Saturday. Kick off for the game is at 15:00.
