Kaizer Chiefs U-20 sent a warning to archrivals Orlando Pirates when they beat their counterparts 2-1 at Hyundai Park, Pimville in Soweto on Thursday night.

The match dubbed as ‘derby before the derby’ took place ahead of the mouth-watering fixture between the two Soweto rivals, Kaizer Chiefs and Orlando Pirates who will fight it out at the Mecca of South African Football, Orlando Stadium on Saturday, 31 October 2009.

The score for the U-20, even though it had little to do with the fixture for the first team on Saturday might have sent an early warning to Orlando Pirates who have lost three games in a row, the last one being against AmaZulu on Wednesday.

Pule Matlhong gave young Chiefs a lead in the 11th minute and Pirates leveled matters via a penalty in the second half. Lee Ramabu had other ideas though as he snatched the winner late in the second half to had the U-20 team under the tutelage of Fani Madida a deserving win.

In an earlier encounter, Chiefs U-17 drew 1 all with Pirates. Captain Jabulani Mazibuko found the back of the net for the U-17s.
