Kaizer Chiefs Management has today welcomed the new signing from Burundi, Velary Nahayo. The hard tackling defender was accompanied by his manager and met the Club’s Chairman, Mr. Kaizer Motaung. He will join with his teammates next week after participating in the 2010 African Cup of Nations/World Cup 2010 qualifying matches.

Velary who is known for his no nonsense tackling joins the Glamour Boys on a three-year contract, “I am excited to have joined Kaizer Chiefs which is the biggest team in the country. After things did not work out for me with the overseas move, it was natural that I join the biggest club in the country” he says.

Alluding to his move to Chiefs, Velary adds “Kaizer Chiefs Team Manager, Bobby Motaung called to ask me if I was interested to join the Club and I told him that he will have to speak to Jomo (Sono) as I was still on contract with Cosmos. I am happy that the two parties have agreed and now I cannot wait to join my new teammates.”

The Burundian international who landed in the country yesterday together with his wife and two kids jokingly told Kaizerchiefs.com he can’t wait to play alongside strikers who had given him sleepless nights while at Cosmos.

“I played against Kaizer Motaung Junior, Mabhuti Khenyeza and Jose Torrealba while he was at Sundowns and they are all good strikers so I am happy they are now my teammates. I do know other guys here having played against them in the league. There is also Renielwe (Letsholonyane) and Moketi (Tsotetsi) whom I know during my time at Cosmos so it will not take long before I settle here” he says adding that he is hoping to win lot of trophies including the league with the team during his three year spell with the Club.

“I want to help my new team as much as I can so that it continues its winning culture. It is my dream to win the league with this great Club. I certainly do not see myself fighting relegation.” he adds jokingly before waving goodbye.
