Defending Vodacom Challenge champions Kaizer Chiefs along with DRC side TP Mazembe, courtesy of the Vodacom Challenge and Gauteng Provincial Government, conducted coaching clinics at Naturena on Thursday.

"We had about 40 youngsters from USSASA attending this trials," said communications manager Putco Mafani, “We then had players and coaches from Kaizer Chiefs and TP Mazembe conducting these clinics."

Mafani added that the field was divided into four with the youngsters participating in different techniques. “There would be a field where youngsters were taught dribbling and there would be professional players, who were coaches in this instance, demonstrating and correcting some of the mistakes."

"The techniques ranged from heading, chest-trap, passing, dribbling, target shooting and body balance," said Mafani. “It was very exciting and I think the youngsters enjoyed it. In fact the youngsters were taught some techniques which their own coaches were not aware of and those coaches wanted their own session."

After the coaching clinics, the youngsters had a photo opportunity and autograph session.

Meanwhile, Mafani said preparations for the Vodacom Challenge final against AS Vita were well on track despite the 1-0 defeat against SuperSport United in a practice match on Wednesday.

"Preparations are going very well and we haven’t had any injuries. The coaches are now focusing on finishing and shooting," said Mafani. "Peter Mponda is looking quite good but I have not seen anything much exceptional about him and I don’t know what the coaches might say. He is ordinarily a good player."
