Kaizer Chiefs continued where they left off against SAFA Joburg Select by thumping tournament favourites, Corinthians by 1-0 on Wednesday afternoon.

Chiefs’ goal came through the courtesy of exciting winger, “Ninja” Ramabu.

The young Chiefs started slow and nearly allowed their opponents to open scoring in the first minute of the game.

Chiefs threatened opponents’ goals when hard working; Thembani Nkomo forced a good save out of goalkeeper, Andre Ferlini.

With actions swinging from both sides, Sibusiso Mabosa pulled a good save denying Corinthians captain, Fran Filho, 0-0 at halftime.

Chiefs started the second half like house on fire and it was not a surprise when national U17 winger, “Ninja” Ramabu scored with a long range that gave a diving opposition keeper, Andre Ferlini no chance.

Normally gifted Brazilians struggled to contain boys from South Africa as they started to knock the ball around with confidence.

The Brazilians were dealt a further blow as captain, Fran Filho was sent off for an early shower after attempting to score with his hand.

“Ninja” Ramabu and “Shakes” Seanego were in superb form for the young Amakhosi. The latter was at his best as he skinned Corinthians with his silky skills before brilliantly setting up for his teammate, Pule Matlhong to score but the latter arrived seconds later as the opportunity went abagging.

Corinthians had their backs against the wall during the second stanza of the game and nearly allowed Chiefs to add the second goal of the game but substitute, Paul Kwetle had his tame shot saved by Andre Ferlini.

Chiefs who have six points will wait for the result on Wednesday afternoon for the match between Sidebeng Select and Notwane FC to know if they are qualifying for the semi finals.

Chiefs line up: Sibusiso Mabaso, Abraham Jacob, P. Makwena (Capt.), Mangaliso Xaba, Pule Matlhong, Thembani Mkomo (Paul Kwetle), Andile Nqabeni, Tebugo Ntuli, T. Ramabu, M. Seanego, Nkulukuko Tshange
