Jomo Cosmos - fresh from a 1-0 defeat against Ajax in midweek - should brace themselves for a tough game against Kaizer Chiefs in a Premier Soccer League match at Mmabatho Stadium in North West on Sunday.

It will be the second professional match staged in Mmabatho

after defending champions Orlando Pirates and Silver Stars played

to a 2-all draw last Sunday.

Cosmos owner Jomo Sono, who is also the club's head coach, said

their preparations for the big game against Amakhosi are going

according to plans.

“We have been playing well despite failing to win the last two

games (against log leaders Santos and Ajax Cape Town). Our problem

is failure to convert our chances into goals,” said Sono.

“It's only a matter of time before we return to our winning

ways, our plan is to finish the season in the top eight bracket on

the log,” added the former Bafana Bafana coach.

Chiefs won the first round match 1-0 courtesy of a 43rd minutes goal by winger Arthur Zwane.

They resumed their challenge for the league title with a 1-0 win

over Lamontville Golden Arrows at FNB Stadium on Wednesday night

after a five week break because of the African Cup of Nations in

Tunisia.

"We had a tough game on Wednesday against Golden Arrows and I must admit that the performance was not up to standard. The most important thing, though, is that we got the three valuable points.

"We are currently preparing to face Jomo Cosmos over the weekend and it's a must-win situation. We finally have more clues about our players and one or two will be coming back from the re-adaptation crisis. David Kannemeyer should be coming back with improved form and Patrick Mayo will also be coming into consideration," said Amakhosi coach Ted Dumitru.

"As for the rest of the players, I think everyone is doing very well and we are very focused. We had a tremendous re-start by collecting three points against a team that was match fit and competitive," he added.

The 2001 African Club of the Year had seven players selected to

represent Bafana Bafana, Zimbabwe and the Democratic Republic of

Congo during the tournament.

Defender Bevan Fransman will not be available for the game against Cosmos and Peter Matshitse will take his place. Defender David Kannemeyer and striker Patrick Mayo are also likely to start after impressing at training.

Meanwhile, Cosmos marketing manager Nyiko Sono said urged the thousands of

supporters expected to watch the game from various parts of the country

and the neighbouring Botswana to come early.
