Kaizer Chiefs started their African Champions League campaign on a good note when they defeated AS Port Louis 2000 from Mauritius at Olympic Park Stadium on Saturday.

The visitors were under pressure from the very first minute as the Amakhosi attacked from all angles.

The hard running Chiefs were rewarded in the eighth minute when Shongwe Chalwe scored the first goal, slotting in a rebound off the visitors goalkeeper.

Chiefs top goal scorer Collins Mbesuma doubled the hosts lead in the 59th minute from the penalty spot after a Port Louis defender handled the ball in the box.

AS Port Louis were unlucky not to have added a consolation goal in the 69th minute after Chiefs defender Patrick Mayo failed to clear the ball in his penalty box.

The visitors coach made multiple substitutions in the second half but they failed to change the complexion the game.
