The highly recommended defender is in good company with Howard Freeze and Matthews Phiri as the only other players to have moved between the two clubs, like Freeze and Phiri, Tsotetsi will be aiming to write his name into the annals of the clubs history and is looking forward to a successful trophy laden career with The Amakhosi.
The addition of the 24 year old tough tackling defender to the Chiefs roster comes at a time when Chiefs coach Muhsin Ertugral had said that he was looking to add weight to his teams defensive department. With the acquisition of the Cosmos central defender the coach looks to have completed the puzzle and is looking forward to continuing his ongoing preparations for this weekends Telkom Charity Cup.
Surprise meeting
Tsotetsi’s move from Cosmos to Chiefs has come as a surprise to many as he is the first player in more than twenty years, to swap the red of Cosmos for the Gold and Black of Chiefs. In the history of the two clubs only two players previously had made the change, so it came as a surprise to the player when he was called up by his former club boss and was informed of an impending move to Naturena.
Moketi takes up the story “ Jomo called me into his office about a week ago and told me to pack my bags and clear out my things as I am moving to Chiefs”. The young defender was unsure whether or not he had heard correctly as he further adds, “I asked him to repeat himself and he told me that a deal had been done and that I would be leaving to join Chiefs, once I left his office and was down the hall I was still unsure if I should believe him or not. It was only after Bobby Motaung called me that I realized that it was for real and I was delighted that I could be on my way to Chiefs”.
Honored to be a Chief
With the formalities over and his career sealed at Chiefs for at least the next the next three years, Tsotetsi can now get on with the business of preparing for the season and his new career ahead.
The prospect of playing for The Amakhosi is one that he is relishing “I really feel that I am a lucky person and honored one, the transition of my transfer from Cosmos to Chiefs was a smooth one and I am grateful to the All Mighty for making everything so easy for me”. While the transfer process progressed with out any hitches, so has Tsotetsi’s acclimatization process with his new teammates, “I began training with the team a few days ago, when I got here I could not believe the reception the guys gave me. It was as though they were waiting for me to come from fitting into the training through to the coaches every body has been very welcoming towards me” added Tsotetsi.
Ertugral delight
As Moketi revels in his transfer move, Amakhosi coach Muhsin Ertugral has expressed his delight with the club's latest purchase, as his newest squad member has gone some way towards taking away a major concern for the coach. As Ertugral explained “I am happy that Chiefs and Cosmos were able to easily agree terms on Moketi’s transfer, he is definitely the kind of player that we were looking for we could definitely do with a no nonsense hard tackling defender like him. I must add that Moketi joining us has definitely taken us some way down the track towards us over coming our defensive concerns, I am confident that he will work out just fine”.
The Chiefs coach is well aware of Tsotetsi’s ability to quell opposition danger man and had the opportunity to learn first hand of his immense talent last season. “Last season when I was with Ajax, we came up against him in a game we played against Cosmos and he really impressed with his man marking abilities and he was able to play one of our most creative players Terror Fanteni off the park”.
