At the start of July the Amakhosi complied with a request, which was sent to them, by the national football museum located in Preston in the North East of England to supply them with an official club replica home jersey.

The club duly obliged and sent the museum which opened its doors in 2002 and was established to preserve and record the history of football particularly in England a home jersey, in recent times the museum has gone global and has included various exhibitions from different countries.

The popularity of the museum has grown over the past five years that, from time to time the museum conducts temporary displays in other countries and to date has held exhibitions in Portugal, Germany, Switzerland and Belgium.

Thousands of visitors are expected to stroll past the Chiefs jersey which will also be on display when the museum hosts a special tribute to ‘African and players of colour in general s’ who have lit up the international stage, as well as those who have contributed to the game of football in England. During the October exhibition there will be a special section featuring the success of former Bafana Bafana and current Amakhosi striker Shaun Bartlett, whose goal scoring antics during his five seasons with Charlton in the English Premier League won him notary acclaim.

Dave Bond of the national football museum who requested the jersey from Chiefs was grateful to The Amakhosi for their donation to the museum, adding “ I would like to thank Chiefs for sending us their jersey, whenever we receive a shirt from a team far away the staff at the museum get very excited. The shirt will be on display with some information about the club, so that visitors to our museum from all over the world will be able to educate themselves on who Kaizer Chiefs are”.
