Chiefs and Super Sport United played an entertaining ninety minutes of football on a drenched, flooded and water logged pitch at Securicor Loftus Stadium.

The game itself ended all square which meant that the weekend’s battle between teams from the capital and Johannesburg once again ended all square after Pirates and Sundowns also played to a one all draw 24 hours earlier.

At one stage in the first half referee Peter Mabuza halted the game for five minutes as he deliberated with both teams and the match commissioner if it was safe for the game to continue on the wet and slippery surface.

When the game did resume Chiefs counterattacked from a Super Sport United corner, Louis Agyemang's finishing missed the mark by inches.

Agyemang had two earlier opportunities to give Chiefs the advantage on three and eleven minutes but could not connect properly with the ball at the vital moment.

Super Sport United made Chiefs work hard and with former Amakhosi midfielder Jabu Pule pulling the strings, he ensured that the Chiefs defence would have a hard afternoons work for them.

It was Super Sport who took the lead when Raselamane slipped in a puddle of water but regained his feet to chip Fernandez and ensure Super Sport went into the break a goal ahead.

With the rain not letting up in the second half the surface became more slippery as the game wore on, which resulted in there been a high free kick count as the tackles flew in.

Chiefs got the equalizer they laboured for in the sixty second minute when a searching ball from Gerald Sibeko found Arthur Zwane, he out sprinted the United defence and sent a cross in which was sweetly met by Agyemang and Chiefs were back in the game.

Indeed the Amakhosi had the chance to take home all three points with ten minutes to go as, substitute Gert Schalkwyk ran the entire length of the pitch and left Unite defender Phil Evans in his wake.

As he bore down on goal Calvin Marlin ran out but the Chief midfielder beat him with a quick shot, only to find his effort go narrowly wide.

Chiefs could take heart out of a spirited performance and under the conditions could be satisfied with sharing the points.

Chiefs will also be happy with the fact that Louis Agyemang has found his scoring boots once again as he begins to look like a deadly finisher.
