Defending Telkom Charity Cup king Kaizer Chiefs are currently second in the latest voting results in the race to secure one of the four places to book a place in this year’s event.

Chiefs had amassed over 6800 votes by 14:30 on Thursday with former league champions Orlando Pirates on third with over 6300. Moroka Swallows are a distant fourth with over 1900 votes while Sundowns are top with over 10 000 votes.

Amakhosi communications manager Putco Mafani reacted with dismay at a report in the daily Sowetan, which published a wrong voting line for the club. But Mafani added that he had spoken to the paper and he was given assurance that the blunder would be corrected.

"I spoke to Mofeli Mika, the sports editor who admitted that this was a terrible mistake and he promised that they would rectify the mistake in tomorrow’s paper," said Mafani. "I would like to apologise to our supporters for the inconvenience caused by this. The correct number is 086 22 33 166."

The event takes place at Soccer City on July 31.
