The Amakhosi arrived at Vodacom Park in Bloemfontein all smiles as the players most of whom were part of last seasons final game of the season when the Amakhosi successfully retained their PSL title showed reason to be happy.

Commenting upon his arrival at the stadium midfielder Thabo Mooki said “rolls back the months doesn’t it?” the diminutive midfielder continued by saying that “our last visit here won us the league when we leave tonight we would like to go home as league leaders”.

Chiefs drew in midweek against Cosmos in blistering afternoon heat at the rand stadium; the heat has followed Chiefs to the Free State and so have the crowds missing from Wednesday afternoons which was played in front of a small crowd as most supporters were still at work.

Looking relaxed Amakhosi coach Ernst Middendorp and his assistant Frank Eullberg walked around the pitch on their first visit to Bloemfontein.

After inspecting the surface the coach said “we have played on some pitches this season that have been atrocious, from first glance I can say this surface looks much better than the one we played on at the Rand Stadium against Cosmos”.

He continued by saying “the pitch is well grassed and the stadium field is wider than the rand stadium which will allow us to play our natural game and not need to change our game plan”.

With the stadium close to capacity Chiefs have begun the warm up preparations for the game with the starting eleven warming up together and the substitutes on another end of the ground. While the goalkeepers have taken to the Western Goal of the stadium to get through their pre match routine.
