Chiefs reaction to Igesund

Kaizer Chiefs issued an official statement on Tuesday in response to media utterances by Ajax Cape Town coach Gordon Igesund that he was interested in Jabu Pule on a loan deal.

GORDON INGESUND - LOOKING FOR PUBLICITY?

Kaizer Chiefs would like to make the following statement regarding the recent utterances by Gordon Igesund of Ajax:

  • When requested a player on loan, certain protocol is usually followed. Mainly the fact that the club to whom the player is registered is approached by the interested club.

  • Whilst Gordon professes that his offer to take Jabu Pule to Ajax on loan, was in good faith, we wonder why he, to date, has not approached the club directly, but rather through the media.

  • Kaizer Chiefs have always sorted out their own internal problems and this effort to show us up in a bad light not only undermines our integrity but also destabilizes the player himself and the rest of the team.

  • Gordon Igesund has no background on what has been done for Jabu Pule to date.

  • As a club we are forced to suspect that this whole story was a stint to gain Gordon some publicity and that there might be a hidden agenda behind his strategy.

  • People need to understand that football has its own dynamics and that problems are not solved overnight. Jabu Pule was suspended for absconding from training and as a club we are taking the usual procedural route, as we would do with any other player.

  • Kaizer Chiefs are cognizant of the fact that Jabu Pule is a very talented player. It is obvious that any team would be interested in taking him on loan.

  • Everything KC does is for the good of the team, we want to assure our supporters that as soon as the time is right, Jabu Pule will be back in action.
