Kaizer Chiefs followed defending league champions Orlando Pirates out of the annual SAA Supa Eight as both sides were bundled out in the opening round of the knockout competition.

Wits University took the lead on 21 minutes through former Chiefs man Ivan Winstanley. The Students moved gear up four minutes after the re-star through the boot of Stewart Murisa.

Chiefs pulled one back through second half substitute David Radebe following a great supply from John Moshoeu.

Premiership champions Pirates were the first out of the lucrative Supa Eight with a 2-1 defeat against Jomo Cosmos at Rand Stadium on Sunday in a game that was marred by two red cards given to Bafana international Teboho Mokoena and Sam Magalefa.

Malawian Russell Mwafulirwa and Lucky Mhlathe gave Cosmos the goals while deceased Bafana international Lesley Manyathela grabbed the consolation a minute before fulltime from the penalty spot.
