Kaizer Chiefs will complete their trio of matches in Polokwane this evening with a fixture against newcomers to the Betway Premiership, Magesi FC, at the New Peter Mokaba Stadium. The intriguing meeting will see both teams want to register.a victory in their first ever encounter.

Chiefs, who played their previous two matches at the same venue, are aiming for a second success, after registering a win and a loss against SuperSport United in their two games that took place in the last 10 days.

Coach Nasreddine Nabi has a bit of a headache following the loss of midfielder Edson Castillo, who will be out for some months after suffering a fracture in Saturday’s match when he was brutally tackled by Bilal Baloyi of SuperSport United in the 18-yard box. Added to that, the reliable Inacio Miguel will miss the game after picking up his fourth caution of the campaign. The coach has also made four tactical changes to the starting team – making it a total of six changes.

Starting at the back, Given Msimango will come on for Miguel. The midfield sees Castillo’s spot be taken by Yusuf Maart, who came on to replace him after the injury. Samkelo Zwane will make way for Njabulo Blom, the young Mfundo Villakazi will start ahead of Gaston Sirino, and Wandile Duba makes way for Nkosingiphile Ngcobo.

As the log starts to take shape, Amakhosi have so far collected six points in four matches played, and the resurgent Dikwena Tša Meetse have five points in the bag after the same number of matches.

In goal, Chiefs will have Fiacre Ntwari.

After leaving the pitch with an injury on Saturday, Bradley Cross is back again at left-back, Rushwin Dortley will have a new partner at centre-back, being paired with Msimango, and Reeve Frosler completes the back four at right-back.

Blom will work with Maart in midfield. They will have Mduduzi Shabalala on the left and Mfundo Vilakazi is on the right of Amakhosi’s attack.

At the front, Ranga Chivaviro and Ngcobo will work together to try and dismantle Magesi’s defence.

Maart reclaims the armband in this match.

The referee is Philangenkosi Khumalo. He will be assisted by Mervyn van Wyk and Oscar Tsotetsi. The fourth official is Romeo Matibidi.

The first ever Betway Premiership match between Amakhosi and Dikwena Tša Meetse will commence at 19:30 at the New Peter Mokaba Stadium in Polokwane. The match is live on SuperSport’s PSL Channel 202 on DStv and SABC radio stations - with regular updates of the match on X (Twitter) @KaizerChiefs.
