Chiefs Make Six Changes Against Free Agents in Nedbank

Amakhosi will kick off their 2024/25 Nedbank Cup campaign against second division side Free Agents FC in a Round of 32 match which will take place at FNB Stadium, starting at 18:00.

Amakhosi have won the cup - dubbed South Africa’s FA Cup - a record 13 times and will want to go all the way to claim their 14th title this year.

The coaching department has decided to make six changes to the squad after last weekend’s Betway Premiership victory over Sekhukhune in Durban. Happy Mashiane, Reeve Frosler, Thatayaone Ditlhokwe, Yusuf Maart, Nkosingiphile Ngcobo and Mfundo Vilakazi will start the crucial match, coming in for Bradley Cross, Njabulo Blom, Rushwin Dortley, Sibongiseni Mthethwa, Samkelo Zwane and Tebogo Potsane.

Assistant coach Khalil Ben Youssef leads from the bench for the second time as coach Nasreddine Nabi is serving the last match of his suspension.

The six changes have led to the technical team changing their formation to a 4-4-2 set up this evening against Free Agents.

Bruce Bvuma keeps his post as the goalkeeper.

Mashiane is on the left of Amakhosi’s defence, with Ditlhokwe and Inacio Miguel at centre-back, and Frosler is back on the right.

Maart is the holding midfielder. He will have George Matlou and Ngcobo playing as creative midfielders. Vilakazi will be the link between the midfield and the strikers.

Up front Chiefs will attack with Wandile Duba and Pule Mmodi.

The captain’s armband returns to Maart.

Msimeleli Mabuto will be the referee. Brian Kganyago and Sipho Mahlangu will be his assistants. Abraham Mashala is the fourth official.

The Nedbank Cup round of 32 match between Amakhosi and Free Agents will kick off at 18:00 at FNB Stadium in Johannesburg. The match will be live on SuperSport’s PSL Channel 202 on DStv and various SABC radio stations - with regular updates of the match on X (Twitter) @KaizerChiefs.
