Kaizer Chiefs are back in the country to resume their Betway Premiership campaign after travelling to the Democratic Republic of Congo last weekend to take part in the TotalEnergies CAF Confederation Cup preliminary stage second round. Amakhosi will face Siwelele FC in their eighth league match of the season.

This is the first meeting between the two outfits since Siwelele FC purchased the PSL status of now-defunct SuperSport United.

Both teams are in search of three points this evening as they look to move up the Betway Premiership standings. Chiefs are fourth on the log with 15 points after eight matches while Siwelele lie 14th with seven points after nine outings.

Chiefs will be wary of former players who are now in the green and white colours, like Tebogo Potsane and Christian Saile, as well as the KCYDA products, Happy Mashiane and Samkelo Zwane, who are on loan with the Bloemfontein-based Club.

The coaching team has decided to make a total of seven changes to the team as they deal with three matches in eight days. In defence, Aden McCarthy and Reeve Frosler start ahead of Bradley Cross and Dillan Solomons, respectively. In midfield, the coaches have chosen Thabo Cele, Mduduzi Shabalala and Mfundo Vilakazi to replace Siphesihle Ndlovu, Nkosingiphile Ngcobo and Pule Mmodi from the last encounter. Up front, Glody Lilepo and Khanyisa Mayo will make way for Wandile Duba and Etiosa Ighodaro, who makes his Kaizer Chiefs debut this evening.

The team will go all out on attack with a 4-4-2 formation.

Brandon Petersen will be between the goalposts.

The defence will have McCarthy starting on the left, Inacio Miguel and Zitha Kwinika in the middle, and Frosler running on the right.

Sibongiseni “Ox” Mthethwa is the holding midfielder.

Cele and Vilakazi will play just in front of Mthethwa.

Shabalala will be just behind the strikers.

Duba and Ighodaro lead the attack.

Notably, Thabiso Monyane is on the bench after recovering from injury and Asanele Velebayi and Lebohang Maboe make the 20-man squad for the first time after being cleared to play by SAFA’s arbitration committee and recovering from injury, respectively.

Petersen wears the captain’s armband this evening.

Blowing the whistle is referee is Eugene Mdluli. On the lines waving the flag will be assistants Xolani Hlatswayo and Lalelani Mngadi. The fourth official is Kenny Mamegwa.

The Betway Premiership match between Amakhosi and Siwelele will kick off at 19:30 at FNB stadium. The match is live on SuperSport PSL Channel on DStv 202 and various SABC radio stations. There will be regular updates on the Club’s X (formerly known as Twitter) account, @kaizerchiefs.
