Billiat who has started all of Chiefs games this season, making 16 starts in all competitions was injured during Chiefs 2-0 loss to Maritzburg United this past weekend. He had his right leg bone cracked as a result of an ill-timed attempt at winning the ball late in the first half of the game by Travis Graham. As a result, Billiat was unable to continue in the game as he left the match shortly after the restart. Amakhosi will be without the influential attacking midfielder who has contributed with five assists and a goal in his sixteen appearances this season. He will be out for the next two months.
Chiefs will also head into Wednesday’s match without Leonardo Castro who scored the only goal of the game for Chiefs last week in a CAF Champions League game against Primeiro De Agosto in a 1-0 away triumph. The goal secured Chiefs place in the CAF Champions League Group Stages. The Colombian striker misses the meeting against Amazulu with an abdominal strain.
There is some positive news on the injury front for Chiefs as Reeve Frosler begins making his way back to full fitness. The defender who has been nursing a left knee injury has begun running on the field as his rehabilitation to full fitness continues at pace. While midfielder Kearyn Baccus is available for selection after missing Chiefs last five league games through injury. He last featured in Chiefs’ 2-2 away league draw against Golden Arrows on 21 November.
Another player who will be making a return and available for selection is Philani Zulu, after serving a two-match suspension.
Chiefs conducted their final training session ahead of the game on Tuesday morning as they prepared for their 10th league game of the current DStv Premiership campaign, which will see them face up with AmaZulu coached by Benni McCarthy in Durban.
