Executive Chairman, Kaizer Motaung has expressed interest for the Club to challenge for the African Champions League spot after the Club ‘surrendered’ their title ambitions with the three consecutive draws since the league resumed early this month.

The Glamour Boys were impressive during the month of December, winning 4 out of their 6 games, and needed to win their last six games when the league resumed early this month, but draws against Moroka Swallows, Jomo Cosmos and Golden Arrows did not do the Amakhosi any favours.

Now the Glamour Boys, who remain third on the Absa Premiership table behind SuperSport United and Mamelodi Sundowns, will be hoping to fight for the remaining nine points on offer in hope of securing a Champions League spot. “One just hopes that we won’t slide further down but remain with the leading pack to gain a chance of qualifying for the African Champions League in future,” said the Captain Chincha in his weekly column on kaizerchiefs.com.

“Looking at our performance, our poor start to the season and the recorded number of goals we conceded, point to a grave challenge we faced in our defence. The often unwelcome goal-drought also took its toll on us, besides competing in an equally compacted league season. Despite these adversities, I still believe we can still do our best to win the remaining league fixtures and incumbent Telkom Cup and the Nedbank Cup to at least claim some silverware. In hindsight, we shall be preparing for the coming season with a bag full of lessons from a year that drained us both emotionally and physically,” added Motaung.

Meanwhile, tickets for the Wednesday, February 17 fixture against Mpumalanga Black Aces and Free State Stars on March 7 are already on sale at Computicket and Shoprite/Checkers outlets countrywide.
