As The Amakhosi continued their ABSA Cup Celebrations on Thursday, the club picked up an award at the awards ceremony but the uniqueness of this award was that it was for an achievement far from the field of play.

For the first time since the inception of the PSL had a club won an award for it’s journalistic endeavours and media coverage of an event. As The Amakhosi Webmaster Yusuf Muhammad shared the Dream Journalist of the tournament award with Lesiba Langa of the Citizen newspaper.

The young Webmaster won the award for www.kaizerchiefs.com over all coverage of the 2006 ABSA Cup and as the judges put it "Yusuf impressive daily reporting on the ABSA Cup, not only on Chiefs but other teams as well. Great previews and reviews for the Amakhosi website, excellent reporting all the way to the final and post".

Kaizer Chiefs brand manager Dara Carroll, who oversees the website on a daily basis, was delighted by the success of her young charge saying, "I think at the moment I am happier than he is, our website has improved vastly over the past couple of months and we just need to keeping on working on it to ensure it does well."

Coach Ernst Middendorp, who himself was a winner on Thursday, also offered his congratulations saying, "every day I phone Yusuf about 100 times, he always does whatever work is given to him. When we travel for matches especially away games he is usually the last person to leave the stadium because he ensures that the Chiefs website is updated before he leaves for the hotel, he deserves the award he received."

At the ceremony Chiefs team manager made him come dressed in a suit and gave him a special gold tie emblazoned with the Chiefs badge. Motaung also offered his congratulations to the net man. "When I heard he had been nominated I knew that he was going to win the award so I told him to wear a suit and gave him a tie. It is nice to see all the members of the squad rewarded for their hard work," said Motaung.

Yusuf thanked his parents, wife as well as the Chiefs team, coach, team manager, the management team at Kaizer Chiefs, with special thanks to Chiefs Chairman and MD Kaizer Motaung. Special thanks was given by him to the supporters for all their contributions through out the season and he also made special mention of the trust shown in him by marketing manager Jessica Motaung and brand manager Dara Carroll for appointing him as the Webmaster back in September 2005.

As the Chiefs team head on holiday www.kaizerchiefs.com will still be updated on a daily basis and during the FIFA World will be bringing its readers special reviews and previews.
