Safa announced the Vodacom-sponsored U20 national team, Amajita, on Friday to play two friendly matches against a visiting German U19 selection Team from North-Rhine Westphalia (Germany's largest province) .
This is part of the South Africa -German Cultural Weeks that will see a number of activities held in various fields such as media, sports, music, film, theatre, politics and science. These events are part of Germany's contribution to South Africa's 10th Anniversary celebrations.
The German Technical Co-operation (GTZ), which implements various official development co-operation projects, has included a KickAIDS project that aims to create HIV /AIDS awareness through soccer. The two matches between Amajita and the U19 Westphalia Team are the highlight of this KickAIDS project.
In preparation of the matches, Amajita will assemble at the Milpark Holiday Inn Garden Court on Sunday, 14 November 2004. One training session will be held on Monday, 15 November at FNB Stadium at 09h00 afterwhich the Team will travel to Nelspruit where they will continue their parepation for their first match on the 18th at Kanyamazane Stadium at 15h00.
Both South African and German Teams will then visit the Kruger National Park where they will spend the evening of the 19th. Amajita will then proceed to the High Performance Centre in Pretoria where they will be based ahead of their second match to be played at HM Pitje Stadium on the 21st November.
From the 22 - 24 November the Team will start a preparation camp for the COSAFA U20 Tournament to be held in Johannesburg. Amajita will report for the official start of the Tournament on the 25th November at Milpark Holiday Inn Garden Court.
