Stanton Lewis arrived at the Chiefs Village this afternoon after completing medicals and told kaizerchiefs.com that he can’t wait to don the Gold and Black jersey.

The player is here on loan from Ajax Cape Town for the next 6 months.

He took time to sit with kaizerchiefs.com

Kaizerchiefs.com: Stanton, welcome to the Family!

Stanton Lewis: (Takes a pause) I am humbled to be here and I can’t wait to play for the biggest Club in Africa.

The Club has produced some of the best players in the country and has won many trophies. I have always wanted to be part of the team where I can win trophies.

Joining Chiefs provides me with an opportunity to win things.

Kaizerchiefs.com: How did the move come about?

Stanton Lewis: The past eighteen months have been very frustrating for me because of the injury and when I heard that there was an interest from Kaizer Chiefs, I jumped on the opportunity.

I am now over my injury and I want to play football. This is my chance to play the game I know and depending on how things turn out I am happy to make my move permanent.

Kaizerchiefs.com: By joining Chiefs you are now also closer to your family here in Johannesburg...

Stanton Lewis: (nodding his head) Yeah, my father has a house here in Joburg. I left here when I was around 14 after playing at Wits University. This move reunites me with my family and also I am joining the Kaizer Chiefs Family. I am humbled by the opportunity the Club has given me.

Kaizerchiefs.com: What do you remember about Kaizer Chiefs when you played junior football in Johannesburg?

Stanton Lewis: I remember playing against them when I played for Wits U-15 and I think I scored a hat-trick on that afternoon. I had friends who were playing for Chiefs juniors, Faziel Diamonds and Delano Hendricks but they never made it to the first team.

Kaizerchiefs.com: You had a chance to play with Itumeleng Khune in the junior national teams...

Stanton Lewis: Yeah! I remember playing with Itu (Itumeleng Khune) and there was also another player from Chiefs, “Skappie” (Michael Nkambule).

Kaizerchiefs.com: You spoke to Domza (Dominic Isaacs) prior coming here. What did he have to say about the Club?

Stanton Lewis: He told me Kaizer Chiefs has brought success on his career that the Club is massive in true sense of the word. Domza only had good things to say about the Club.

Kaizerchiefs.com: Chiefs come up against Ajax Cape Town this coming weekend?

Stanton Lewis: (Laughs) its funny that I am already thinking about meeting my former teammates. I wish I can get an opportunity to play.

I grew up at Ajax and I am grateful for what they have done for me. However, I am now a Kaizer Chiefs player and I want to win the league with Chiefs this season.

I want to help the Club the way I can to achieve their goals and if it means we meet Ajax...so we have to beat them.
