In it’s ongoing efforts to help those in need Kaizer Chiefs were on hand to assist to terminally ill kids part of the reach for a dream foundation realize one of their long lasting dreams to meet the players from the team they support with all their heart.

Two of the reach for a dream benefactors eleven year old Katayi Shimba from Durban who suffers from a rare blood disease and 14 year old Khwezi Mbatha a cancer patient from Johannesburg, were afforded the opportunity to watch training at the Kaizer Chiefs village on Friday morning. After the session they were able to interact with the players as well take pictures and share in an exhibition kick about with their Amakhosi heroes.

The two youngsters were surprised even further when handed personalized Kaizer Chiefs jersey with their names and a number of their choice printed on the back, and told that they will be doing duty for Chiefs at the Soweto derby on Saturday. They will be the Amakhosi’s mascots and will lead the team into battle when they take on Pirates at the FNB Stadium on Saturday afternoon.

Volker Munster a spokesperson for the Reach for a dream foundation was thankful Chiefs for affording the youngsters this opportunity saying, “ I was speaking to the mother of the one kid and she told me that just the thought that he was going to meet Chiefs had helped lifts his spirits as well as aid his recovery process. Now with all of this and the chance to be mascots tomorrow will go along way towards helping these kids see the brighter side of life all I can say is thank you Chiefs”.

This project will hopefully go along way towards Chiefs forging a strong bond with the reach for a dream foundation, who they have adopted as one of their social partners going in to 2006.
