Kaizer Chiefs made a bright start to what was a fiercely contested game against Moroka Swallows at the Johannesburg Stadium on Sunday Afternoon.

For their part the Amakhosi started of well and had the ball in the back of the net inside the first two minutes, only for the assistant referee to rule out the effort for off side.

Chiefs were expecting a tough game and Swallows did some of the early running and had the best chance of the opening quarter when Tsweu Mokoro had a well taken volley saved by Emile Baron.

Chiefs began to take control of proceedings from there on wards with Gert Schalkwyk starting for Chiefs for the first time linked up well with Scara Ngobese and Louis Agyemang as Chiefs began to look more menacing going forward.

On 26 minutes Scara made a powerful run down the left and crossed the ball over for a diving Gert Schalkwyk to spectacularly give Chiefs the lead.

The second half did not start off well for Chiefs as Swallows got the equalizer they were looking for early on when Senegalese striker Mame Niang beat the Chiefs defense and struck low past Emile Baron to level matters.

Cyril Nzama made a welcome return to first team action and set up a perfect chance on 68 minutes but his low cross was missed by Songwe Chalwe, with the Swallows defense and goalkeeper beaten.

With time running down first Swallows through the quick thinking Gary McNab, who found Denis Lota in acres of space from a quick taken free kick but Baron was up to the task of holding out the Zambian internationals close range effort.

Chiefs than set up a quick counter attack Shoes Moshoeu found himself with just the keeper to beat but was unfortunate as his well timed lob went inches wide.

Ernst Middendorp pronounced himself satisfied with the performance but unhappy with the result as Chiefs remain unbeaten in the league this season but have now gone five games without a win.
