Kaizer Chiefs wasted an opportunity to put pressure on log leaders, SuperSport United when they were held into a 1 all draw by 10 men Bloemfontein Celtic in front of over 15 000 crowd at Super Stadium on Saturday night.

Celtic was the first to score when Thabo Ntethe (21) scored from close range but Chiefs equalised through Gerald Sibeko (36).

The Glamour Boys sporting the 40th anniversary made four changes on the side that started against Platinum Stars on Wednesday with scorers, Kaizer Motaung Jr and Jose Torrealba partnering each other up front while David Mathebula and Gerald Sibeko were deployed in the middle of the park.

It was the visitors, Celtic who draw the first blood when Tlou Segolela’s strike went just wide of Itumeleng Khune’s goals. Then the Glamour Boys not to be outdone came close twice with Reneilwe Letsholonyane and Jose Torrealba shots going just over the bar.

Earlier Celtic had been dealt a huge blow when in the first 15 minutes of the game Motsere Motlhaping was sent off after fouling Kaizer Motang Jr at the edge of the box.

That did not dampen their spirits though as they opened scoring in the 21st minute via the boot of Thabo Ntethe after Chiefs defence had failed to clear Mark Mayambela’s free kick that had came off the woodwork.

In the 25th minute, Chiefs looking for an immediate reply saw Torrealba’s strike coming off the post. It was again the Venezuelan, Jose Torrealba who few seconds later who forced a save out of Patrick Tignyemb.

In the 29th minute Chiefs had a penalty appeal being turned down after Thabo Nthethe appeared to have pushed Jose Torrealba inside the box, instead referee, Faik Daniels book the striker for assimilation.

It was not long before the Glamour Boys levelled the matters when Gerald Sibeko fired home in the 36th minute following a superb cross from in form Jimmy Tau. It was Gerald Sibeko’s first goal since May 2007 where he scored a brace in a 4-2 drubbing of Free State Stars.

In the 52nd minute, Reneilwe Letsholonyane’s strike went just wide following a superb cross from Jose Torrealba.

Then David Mathebula unleashed a shot from 35 yard out, although it beat keeper, Patrick Tignyemb it did not beat the woodwork. Jose Torrealba follow up shot was easily saved by Tigneyemb as the Glamour Boys searched for the second goal of the night.

Tlou Segolela should have done better in the in the 65th minute when he found himself one on one with Itumeleng Khune but although he managed to be beat him with a delightful chip he could not beat the post.

Jimmy Tau who had a sterling game should have capped his performance with a goal but his shot taken with his weaker left foot went wide some piece of good work from Letsholonyane.

Patrick Tignyemb was called into duty when Jimmy Jambo unleashed a powerful shot just outside the 18-area box. Jose Torrealba should have scored with a rebound but he miscued his shot when it looked easy to score than to miss.

The Glamour Boys will not be happy with the draw as they were the better of the two sides throughout but missing of opportunities proved to be their downfall. They have a chance to bounce back to winning ways on Wednesday when they host Ajax Cape Town at Loftus Versfeld.
