Kaizer Chiefs Village in Naturena was a hive of on Friday not only because of the supporters who came through to the shop but striker, Bernard Parker joined the team for his first training session having signed a two year deal early this week.



Born in a Kaizer Chiefs ‘mad’ family, the soft spoken striker spoke to kaizerchiefs.com about his joy having finally joined a team of his dreams.



“I am happy finally I am here. It has always been my dream as a youngster to play for the Glamour Boys. I could have gone to Sweden or Greece but I chose to come here. The standard of the PSL have improved and that is why teams who have came in here including Tottenham have been impressed with the standard of the game here,” said Parker just after completing medicals.



Bernard Parker could have joined the Glamour Boys back in 2008 and even agreed terms with the Club, “I came to Naturena and agreed terms with the Club. I remember well touring the Village but I eventually decided to stay with Thanda Royal Zulu.



He joined his teammates for the first time at training today, “I know most of the guys in the team having played against them before I went to Europe. I also played with some of them in the national team still the welcoming from them was fantastic. I got to meet the Coach briefly and he welcomed me to the Club. I also met the Executive Chairman, Mr. Kaizer Motaung and he told me that he is glad that finally I am here as they always wanted to bring me to Naturena,”



“I have joined Kaizer Chiefs to win trophies. This is the biggest Club in the country renowned of winning titles and I want to contribute to that. I was with FC Twente for the preseason and got to play couple of games so fitness is not an issue. I know that I still have to back my ambition by training hard and giving my best every time I get an opportunity,”



Parker revealed that he has always been a Kaizer Chiefs fan, “at home we all follow Kaizer Chiefs so I grew up supporting the Club. Mark Williams and Tinashe Nengomasha are my all-time favourite players at Chiefs.



Chief’s takes on Orlando Pirates on Saturday in the Carling Black Label, “I hope to get an opportunity to play and if I do I can promise the fans 100% effort…in fact they can expect that every time I get to don the gold & black,” he added.
