Chiefs go to the Palace for Sundowns clash

The pick of the Absa Cup semifinal match up’s which is being billed as the final before the final the clash between Kaizer Chiefs and fellow PSL title contenders Mamelodi Sundowns has been set for Saturday the 29th April an will be played at the Royal Bafokeng Sports Palace in Rustenburg.

The last time Chiefs and Sundowns met in a Cup game was during of the 2003-2004 season when Chiefs ran out 3-1 winners over the Brazilians in an Absa Cup last 32 game.



Over all since the inception of the PSL back in 1996 Chiefs and Sundowns have met on six occasions in cup games four of which have been in the Cup final itself, with the Amakhosi triumphing on all four occasions.

Chiefs only defeat at the hands of the Brazilians in a Cup game in the last ten years was when they were knocked out of the 2001 BOB Save SuperBowl by a Raphael Chukwu brace as they went down 2-0 at the FNB Stadium.

With history on their side and an over all cup pedigree Chiefs will are hopeful that their winning trend can continue over the Brazilians.



The other Absa Cup semifinal game between Orlando Pirates and Classic will be played at Loftus Stadium in Tshwane (Pretoria) on Sunday the 30th April, both games will kick off at 15:15.
