Chiefs fan Zolani Mahola ready to wow world

South African band Freshlyground will be one of the lead acts at the closing ceremony to be held just before 2010 FIFA World Cup Final at Soccer City in Johannesburg on Sunday evening, the group will perform a rendition of the now globally acclaimed ‘Waka – Waka’ song which is the official Theme Song of the 2010 FIFA World Cup.



The award winning group have collaborated with world renowned Colombian artist ‘Shakira’ on the ‘Waka – Waka’ song, Freshlyground’s lead singer and avid Kaizer Chiefs fan Zolani Mahola is honoured to be performing at the World Cup Final.

“This is a South African and African World Cup and therefore for us as African artist to be sharing the stage at such an occasion is an incredible thing” she explained. Of their duet with Shakira she said “working with Shakira has been just great.”

For Mahola and her band it has been an exciting time over the last few months with millions of people around the world down loading the popular ‘Waka Waka’ song, speaking of the experience she said . “It has been an amazing experience and working with an artist like Shakira and seeing how people do things on a grander stage has helped broaden our horizon, the whole country has done well as host of the World Cup”.



Mahola a Chiefs fan for many years re-iterated he support of The Amakhosi and added, “the only team I can ever remember supporting from the when I was very young was Kaizer Chiefs, Doctor Khumalo was one of the players I grew up watching regularly”.
