Chairman and Managing Director, Kaizer Motaung on behalf of Kaizer Chiefs Family has congratulated SuperSport United for defending their league title.

“Congratulations are in order to Mr. Khulu Sibiya, Chairman of SuperSport United and the Club for the job well done. Winning the league is something else but when you go all out and defend it, it is special. We did it in 2003/4 and 2004/5 seasons when we won back-to-back league titles.

Before SuperSport only Mamelodi Sundowns and the Amakhosi had achieved that feat and we would like to welcome SuperSport United to the league.

The league is getting tougher and tougher and it is good to see teams like SuperSport United doing so well.

Orlando Pirates gave all they could and were beaten in the last minute…also congratulations to them for retaining the second spot,” said Mr. Motaung at the Club's headquarters in Naturena on Monday.

In the First Division, Jomo Cosmos were crowned champions on Sunday and will return to the Absa Premiership next season.

“The first division has proven to be tough these days and congratulations are in order to Jomo Sono and his players for the gallant fight they put ensuring that they return to the Premiership.

I am hoping that the cloud surrounding the play offs will be attended to and the matter will be settled to allow the promotion process to go smoothly,” he said.

“Captain Chincha” also took time to congratulate Kaizer Chiefs Technical Team and players for the job well done during the season.

“We should have done better this season but our bad start early this season came back to haunt us at the end. We did well to win MTN8 back in September but it was in the championship that we fell short. Plans are already underway in making sure that we challenge for the league championship next season. I would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone at Chiefs for their dedication this season.

The supporters in particular were very supportive in what has been a very difficult season for the lads. In our last game in Potchefstroom they come out in numbers despite losing two games in a row this can only encourage us to continue with our mission to be the best sporting brand not only in South Africa but in the continent,” he added.
