Football Manager, Bobby Motaung insisted on Thursday that the Club is distancing itself following a call up for striker, Thabani Mthembu to the U17 national team to play in Swaziland.

The Club having taken a hard stance against the scourge of age cheating. Thabani Mthembu is suspended pending an investigation.

Motaung revealed to kaizerchiefs.com that SAFA was informed of the action, “On October 28 we wrote a letter informing SAFA that players, Boitumelo Xaba and Thabani Maluleki Mthembu have been suspended by the Club because of suspected age cheating. We are surprised to hear from the media that the player has been called up under Kaizer Chiefs name,”

We never received a letter from SAFA and we would like to put it categorically clear that we are distancing ourselves from this call up,” said Motaung on Thursday morning.

The national U17 is in camp in preparation for the 4th edition of Southern African Sports Confederation & Olympic Committee (SASCOC) Zone 6 games to be played in Mbabane from Friday, 10th – 18 December 2010.
