Chiefs come back for a draw

Premier League champions Kaizer Chiefs had to come back from a

first-half deficit to draw 1-1 with Free State Stars at a packed

Charles Mopeli Stadium on Tuesday afternoon.

Once again the saviour for the Amakhosi was evergreen midfielder John

"Shoes" Moshoeu, who scored the equalising goal in the 68th minute

from a smartly-taken free-kick.

A determined Stars opened the score in the 16th minute through

Mohlolo Lhlapo after looking the more dangerous and purposeful team

in the early exchanges - with a long-range shot giving Rowen

Fernandez in the Chiefs' goal little chance.

Chiefs settled down in the second half and had Stars under

constant pressure before Moshoeu finally produced the vital

equaliser.

The draw enables Chiefs to climb to top position in the log with

four points from two games, but their main rivals have played fewer

games and Amakhosi will need to show improved form to stay at the

top.
