Lamontville Golden Arrows Vs Kaizer Chiefs

Chatsworth Stadium, Durban

1st October 2006

Premier Soccer League

Temperature: 25 ° C

Kick Off: 15h45

Chiefs will take on Lamontville Golden Arrows in a late afternoon kick off on Sunday at the Chatsworth Stadium in Durban looking to keep their recent 100% record, against the Durban team in tact.

Ernst Middendorp will lead his team out in Chatsworth on Sunday hoping to record his fourth straight victory against Arrows since taking the helm at the Amakhosi.

He will have to do it by making four enforced changes from the Chiefs team that defeated Moroka Swallows a week ago in an SAA Supa8 Semi Final encounter, across town at the ABSA Stadium.

The changes made by Ernst Middendorp are enforced ones as a number of players are injured or serving suspensions and are there fore unavailable for selection on Sunday.

The first change sees Jimmy Tau come in for the injured Cyril Nzama, the former reappearing after sitting out Chiefs last two games, the suspended Siphiwe Mkhonza’s place is taken Ditheko Mototo whose previous outing for Chiefs was in the goalless draw with Ajax Cape Town in Kimberley forth night ago.

With all the suspensions and injuries to contend with it would be easy for one to forget the return of David Obua, the charismatic and highly influential play maker returns from a two week absence.

Obua, who last started a match on the 13th September when Chiefs played out a pulsating 2-2 draw with Jomo Cosmos, was substituted at half time during that game has been nursing a hamstring injury.

The Ugandan international steps in the place of the ever improving Tinashe Nengomasha, who misses Sunday’s game after picking up his third yellow card of the campaign against Swallows last Sunday.

The final Chiefs change is upfront where Kaizer Junior takes the place of Shaun Bartlett, who is currently carrying an ankle injury.

Chiefs coach Ernst Middendorp when commenting on the enforced changes he had to make for the game said “one does not like to tinker with a winning team but we are in the unfortunate position of having to deal with a number of injuries and suspensions.

That is all part of football and one needs to be prepared for any eventuality, I do believe that we have enough quality in our squad and the guys coming in will do just as good a job.
