Chiefs reclaimed the second position they lost when Mamelodi
Sundowns beat SuperSport United 1-0 on Wednesday night. AmaKhosi,
who are breathing heavily behind log-leaders, Orlando Pirates, have
now amassed 56 points from 28 matches.
The Buccaneers top the standings with 59 points from 29 matches.
Bucks, who were the host of the fiercely contested game on
Saturday night, scored first in the 20th minute. Simon Dladla
finished a rebound off Sibusiso Mazibuko's shot.
However their joy was short-lived as Scara Ngobese equalised with a
scorcher two minutes later.
Leading PSL goalscorer, Zambian international Collins Mbesuma,
nodded home a beauty in the 35th minute. A cross from Arthur Zwane
put the half-time score at 2-1.
In the beginning of the second stanza, Bucks coach Mlungisi
"Professor" Mgubane, made a double substitution bringing on
Jonathan Armogan and Agent Sawu for Bulelani Mathrolla and Dladla
respectively.
The move paid dividends two minutes later when Mazibuko levelled
matters after capitalising on Nhlanhla's Kubheka's mistake inside
Chiefs penalty.
Mazibuko was back in the spotlight confirming his brace. He
scored Bucks' third goal in the 80th minute.
Bucks, then, suffered a low blow when Wellingtom Sambu was sent
off for an early shower in the referees optional time. He
deliberately handled the ball inside the area.
Chiefs forceful striker, Mbesuma, levelled matters to 3-3 with
his 23rd goal.
David Radebe scored the all important goal for the PSL 2003-04
season champions just before the final whistle.
