Kaizer Chiefs U17 side were back to winning ways on Tuesday afternoon giving SAFA Joburg Select a 7-1 drubbing at SAFA Development Centre.

Kaizer Chiefs Head of Development, Walter “Baresi” Steenbok, who watched the proceedings with interest from the stands said their young side was more prepared on Tuesday afternoon.

“The boys were well prepared mentally. We also made tactical changes to the line up that started against Esperance of Monday. Abraham Jacob and Tebugo Ntuli started the game.

We also increased the pace of the game and this happened from the start where we put our opponents under lot of pressure. We created lot of chances in the first 15 minutes of the game but missed them,”

Steenbok added that he was impressed with the overall commitment of the players during the ‘must win’ game.

“The boys knew that nothing except a win was acceptable. They were very committed and that was clear in their approach to the game. We were also very impressed with the application of the tactics on the day,” added Steenbok.

Chiefs will this afternoon face Corinthians of Brazil in their last game in Group B. Kick off is at 13h00.
