Chiefs at the FIFA Interactive World Cup

Kaizer Chiefs players took some time off from their hectic training schedule on Saturday to attend FIFA Interactive World Cup (FIWC) at Sandton City.



The FIFA Interactive World Cup is the world’s largest football gaming tournament. FIFA along with its Presenting Partners Electronic Arts (AE) and PlayStation have been bringing the World Cup 2009 to various cities around the world.



Representing the Glamour Boys was Gerald Sibeko, Michael Nkambule, Tshepho Bulu, Bongani Sondhlane, Kaizer Motaung Jr., Reneilwe Letsholonyane, Mokete Tsotetsi and George Lebese.



In what was the packed event with almost 500 players, rivals Orlando Pirates, sports personalities including local celebrities, joined Chiefs at this year’s FIWC Live South African Qualifier.



Kaizer Chiefs players had fun while beating archrivals in a ‘derby’, “It is always nice to win against Orlando Pirates,” said Kaizer Jr laughing.



The Kaizer Chiefs no. 7 was up against Orlando Pirates hard tackling defender, Innocent Mdledle in the Chiefs vs. Pirates game with Chiefs winning by 2-1.



“We will meet at Coca Cola Park on the real field,” joked Orlando Pirates, Communications Manager, Mickey Modisane afterwards.



Kaizer Chiefs midfielder, Reneilwe Letsholonyane who was glued to the screen almost for the duration of the time the players were there, enjoyed the event, “It was nice to take some time off from our hectic schedule.



I always play this game during my spare time and I really had good time today. Just like in real pitch, in football you never stop learning,” he said after the event.



The biggest winner though was 31 year-old, ‘Flash’ Gordon Butler South Africa after winning FIWC09 Live South African Qualifier. He will now compete in Barcelona in the FIWC09 Grand Final on 02 May 2009.
